Not sure what a margalope might look like, but a few hits of this strain and you may be seeing a Jackalope run across your living room. But before we get into all of that, lets do some strain breakdown.

Margalope is a cross between “Chocolope” and “Frozen Margy.” My particular dispensary labeled this as a sativa. But looking at the strain via other sources, some refer to it as a sativa dominant hybrid. From my experience, I agree with this being a hybrid. The particular batch that I had in my possession hailed at a very “high” THC level of over 23%. The strain’s dominant terpenes make this a very aromatic one. You can smell some of the pine and pepper and even some rosemary.
To me, the flavors reflected the aromas as well. The pepper was very present on the first few inhales and stayed pretty consistent throughout the smoke. And yes…I smoked this strain via a pre-roll so unfortunately I don’t have any of my own pics I can share of the flower. Some reviews of the flower say that the trichomes on this strain are huge, like grains of margarita salt. Hope to someday get a hold of a nice sized bud so I can see the colors and trichomes for myself.
The smoke was easy to smoke. It was thick but again no scratchiness or harshness on the inhale. The nice resin ring told me that the trichomes were very present still. Overall a great smoke experience.
But enough of that…what about the effects? Everyone loves to know how they are about to feel, right? So here is some advice right off the bat before you try this strain; as you are getting ready to get this goodness in you, I think some pre-planning may be in order. Pick the time you want to give it a go and block that time off. Turn off the phone. Make sure your errands for the day are done. Then find a cozy spot, settle in and enjoy.
I found myself feeling euphoric pretty fast. Then I fell into a state where I could focus and I mean FOCUS on about anything that caught my eye. A thunderstorm cloud was off in the distance and I found myself staring at it for a bit…enjoying it. I then gathered myself and got to the couch where I spent most of the rest of the evening. I turned on some nice music and enjoyed any song that came on, literally any song. Sentences were not flowing very fast out of my brain and mouth and that was ok. It is a great strain to enjoy when you are very ready to call it a night and enjoy a nice movie or TV show. Munchies you ask? Yep…they came on full force and I found myself eating these crackers and I looked like a tree chipper. Crumbs had to be flying every which way.
But we can’t end this review without addressing the medicinal qualities of this strain. I found that it was great on my stomach. It helped keep my system calm and balanced. I also felt that this strain is a great pain reliever. Some of my normal neck and shoulder pain melted away. Not sure I would try it for sleep or to cure insomnia but overall it had great affects that should help anyone suffering from depression or anxiety or from chronic pain.
The strain itself gets a solid score of an 8 out of 10. That is just a strain score. That is not a score for the pre-roll. I won’t go into that on this review because that will vary a lot from dispensary to dispensary. I am more concerned with taste, smell and effects and this strain scored well in those categories. It could have been a 9 or 10 had the high been maybe a little more tame. It’s not for those who are brand new unless the person really understands “slow and steady.” Remember the rule that most experienced cannabis users follow when talking with newbies…take one puff and wait about 15 mins or so and see how you like it. If all still good…puff puff pass.
So that’s it…my review of Margalope. As always I would love to hear your feedback and/or experience when it comes to this strain. So please comment below and add to the discussion.
