Vidacann, my fav MMJ dispensary here in Florida, came out with two brand new cultivar strains and I was pleased to be able to sample both. They are Oreoz and Breath Mintz. Both of these strains are hybrids that are more indica dominant. For the sake of this post, I will keep my review focused on my experience with Breath Mintz. So buckle up and here we go.
First impressions were good. The bud structure was not anything to write home about. Light greens with a good amount of frostiness and weaved in orange hairs. Buds were on the smaller side and decently compact. So yes…it looked good out of the jar.
Smell wise…loved it. You could get some gassiness once you broke the buds open and for sure you could pick up some lemon or citrus scents. Your mouth will water as you take in a few inhales, especially after grinding. The terpenes really cut loose after a few turns of your grinder. The dominant terpene is myrcene which explains those strong citrus notes. The second most dominant terpene is caryophyllene which can be found in other plants such as cloves and hops and pepper. I mention these two terpenes because it is this combo in this strain that explains the name of the strain.
My method of intake was a nice rolled joint for this flower. Upon firing this bad boy up, the “mint” part immediately presented itself. I was shocked to feel a nice mild spicy note in the back of my throat upon inhale and exhale. I really did feel like I had popped a tic tac. It was an awesome sensation. The overall tastes were very very consistent with the terpene profile. Citrus (some sweet) along with a peppery finish made this a very enjoyable smoke.
But I know that most readers are just wanting me to hurry and get to the effects part of the review so here it goes. According to the lab report for this strain, it comes in at a hefty 32% THC which is quite HIGH…no pun intended. And yes…that is what the lab report says so I will take them at their word. This was a hybrid as I mentioned at the beginning. What I am starting to really enjoy about most hybrids is that you get both a body and a mind high. The cerebral part of the high was what I felt early on…like within 5 minutes of my smoke experience. That effect lasted a good 2 hours or so. But then…about 30 mins in…you get that body high kicking in and my legs felt like two large pieces of spaghetti. They were there…I could see them. But they were relaxed and somewhat…floppy? The effects were perfect for later evening, after dinner. It’s a strain that most will enjoy right before bed. It gets your mind away from any issues of the day and it prepares your body for a nice relaxing sleep.
I do wish the effects were a little longer lasting. I found myself feeling well beyond peak in about 3 hours….which in actuality is about the norm for this method of intake. But I still wish it would last longer. So if you want to try this strain for sleep, plan accordingly and make sure you are ready for bed fairly soon after intake.
